How to choose a Christian coloring book for your child
Choose by age first (big shapes and thick lines for 5 to 8, more detail for 9 and up), then check that pages are single-sided, that Bible scenes name their passage and match it, that any words are spelled right, and that the book shows faith at home, not only Bible-times scenes.

Is it the right level for my child's age?
Ages 5 to 8 need big shapes, thick lines and few tiny spaces; small details frustrate small hands. Ages 9 and up enjoy more detail, patterns and backgrounds. Look at the sample pages on the listing, not just the cover.
Are the pages single-sided?
Markers bleed through paper. A single-sided book (one picture per sheet, blank on the back) means one finished page never ruins the next, and finished pages can be torn out and hung up.
Are the Bible stories accurate?
Good books name the passage for each story page so you can read it together. Check a page or two: three wise men's gifts, five loaves and two fish, the right number of disciples. Details matter to kids who are learning the story.
Are the words spelled right?
Many coloring books now include phrases to color, like "Jesus Loves You". Look closely at the samples: misspelled or garbled lettering is a sign the pages weren't checked.
Does it connect faith to home?
Bible-times scenes are wonderful, and so are pages that show faith today: a family praying at supper, a child saying bedtime prayers, helping a neighbor. They help a child see that the story continues in their own home.
What about the paper?
Amazon's print-on-demand paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils. For markers, slip a sheet of scrap paper behind the page.
